Freistil 164 / 2014 / Rolf Benz

Freistil 164 can be transformed in record time. Only one move is needed if you want to view the world first upright and then from a horizontal position. The other way around too, of course.

A joint system that is partially visible and partially hidden in the upholstery allows for extremely easy operation, coupled with exceptional functionality. Thanks to the sophisticated folding mechanism, the sitting and lying heights remain the same and the sofa does not have to be moved away from the wall.

The sofa has two different types of upholstery, a softly padded seat and a harder padded, unfolded bed. There is an optional topper integrated into the back cushion, which further increases sleeping pleasure for those in need of comfort. The heart of the Freistil 164 is the innovative joint chain. The complex development was carried out using sketches, but mostly through numerous tests on models in different scales.
